Walnut cookies with melted fudge. They are crunchy sweet and got molten caramel inside. Does it get any better?
When I make these cookies, I have to be quick because otherwise they are gone. There are already requests to make them outside my family. A secret ingredient is of course the walnuts from our own garden. It’s a lot of work with the peel, but then you’ve got something tasty. And if you don’t have a walnut tree in your garden, you can buy walnuts already peeled in the supermarket. Very easy and quick to get them store bought.
Did you know that a walnut tree beside it’s delicious fruit has an extra advantage? Indeed, it is a perfect tree against mosquitoes. Mosquitoes don’t like the smell of the walnut tree and therefore won’t come near it. A terrace under a walnut tree gives a bite-free evening.
Does a walnut tree than got any disadvantages? Sure it does. First, a walnut tree is huge. It can be as tall as 15 meters height with a diameter of 10 meters. Not suitable for a city garden with neighbors on both sides. And the second drawback is nothing grows under the tree. That’s because the leaves contain poison. (therefor don’t use the walnut leaf ever on your compost heap, because you certainly don’t want to spread it into your garden.)
