A skinny desert, that's certainly a good description of this recipe for filled and baked apples. By adding the gingerbread spices, they got great flavor
convectional oven or conventional oven (in that case increase the temperature indicated in the recipe by 20 degrees Celsius)
Ingredients
4applessour, like Granny Smith
6tablespoons raisins
6tablespoons orange juice fresh
4tablespoons honey
2teaspoons gingerbread spices
8walnuts chopped coarse
4teaspoons butterunsalted
Notes
Brush the orange juice on the outside of the apple. It gives a delicious flavor and makes sure the apple won't brown.
If you haven't got a lot of time, soak the raisins for 10 minutes in hot water.
The butter you'll place on the top will melt and caramelizes the outside of the apple.
The apples are boiled in a small amount of water. The juices of the apple and spices inside will combine with the water and gives a delicious sauce, which you can serve with the filled and baked apples.
Substitute the butter with plant-based margarine for a vegan and lactose-free dessert.
Raisins can be substituted with currants, cranberries, or small cubes of dried apricots.
Serve these filled and baked apples with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A great combination.
