I serve you the recipe for the most amazing Brussels sprouts with bacon. The Brussels sprouts are crispy and shining because of the delicious sweet Bourbon glaze. And this is an unbelievably easy recipe to prepare with such a lot of flavor. I'm sure you're going to add this recipe to your most favorite Brussels sprouts recipe book.
Clean the Brussels sprouts. First, take a thin strip of the bottom. Then you can remove the outer leaves. If you've got very big Brussels sprouts halve them. Wash the sprouts in a colander.
Boil Brussels sprouts
Add the clean Brussels sprouts to the boiling water and let them cook for 5 minutes.
Drain them in a colander and put them aside.
Bourbon glaze
In a saucepan add butter, brown sugar, Bourbon, cayenne pepper, and sea salt.
Bring to a boil on medium heat, then turn the heat low.
Let it simmer, while stirring, for 2 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Turn of the heat.
Baked Brussels sprouts with bacon, pecans, and Bourbon glaze.
Add the bacon to a hot skillet and bake for 3 minutes on medium heat until they're light brown. Some fat will be released too.
Add the Brussels sprouts, turn on the heat to high, and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
Add the Bourbon glaze and turn the heat low. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat and crumble the pecans on top. Serve immediately
NOTES
The cleaning of the Brussels sprouts will take the most of the preparation time. But you can buy them already cleaned. That way this recipe will be even easier.
Because you cook the Bourbon glaze the alcohol will evaporate and only the flavor will stick behind. But if you don't want to use alcohol substitute it with apple juice.
Stir-fry the Brussels sprouts for 2 minutes before adding the Bourbon glaze. That way they will become crispy.
You can't store these Brussels sprouts, so make sure you eat all your veggies (but with this recipe that won't be a problem ;-).
