A delicious Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe with red currants. A fruity and refreshing recipe. Super easy and quick to prepare. With Vodka and Triple Sec, lime juice, some sparkling wine, and a homemade red currant syrup. An elegant drink to serve as a signature drink for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and a dinner party.
Instead of red currants you can use strawberries, raspberries or blackberries.
By adding ⅛ teaspoon Sea salt to the syrup, the sweet flavor will become enhanced.
Keep your hand on the lid of the cocktail shaker while shaking. You don't want to splash your cocktail all around the house.
Sieve the red currant syrup, so you remove all seeds and skins from your syrup.
In a Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe you use Triple Sec. I choose Grand Marnier, but you can substitute it with Cointreau.
For an even more elegant cocktail you can replace the sparkling wine with Champagne.
Pour the Cosmopolitan through a sieve into your glass. You want it cold, but not diluted by the ice.
Instructions
Red currant syrup
Take the red currants of the stems and wash them.
Put them in a saucepan and add sugar, water, and sea salt.
Bring to a boil at medium heat and, when it boils, turn the heat to low.
Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Pour the berries into a fine sieve (which is placed on top of a bowl) and let it drip. Press with the back of a spoon the remaining juice through the sieve.
Let it cool slightly.
Cosmopolitan cocktail with red currant syrup
Put the red currant syrup, Vodka, and Grand Marnier into the cocktail shaker.
Juice half a lime above the shaker. Pour the sparkling wine into the shaker as well.
Add a handful of ice cubes and put the lid on the shaker.
While you hold the lid, shake for 1 minute.
Take the little lid of the shaker (so remain the sieve) and pour the Cosmopolitan into a glass.
