1. Red writing marker: The red writing marker has a red frosting. It can be purchased in the supermarket or (online) cooking and baking stores. Before use, heat it in a glass of hot water for 5 minutes, then you can decorate it better.2. Sugar decorations: Buy sugar eyes and Halloween sugar decorations. These are available at the supermarket and (online) cooking and baking stores.3. Lemon juice: If you prefer a vanilla flavor, replace it with a teaspoon of vanilla extract.4. Variations:
Bloody red filling: Cut the donuts and fill them generously with strawberry jam for an extra bloody effect.
Zombie donuts: Make the icing green and sprinkle crumbled chocolate chip cookies over the donuts as 'soil.' Press one eye in the center.
Pumpkin donuts: Color the icing orange and use a green decoding marker to add stripes to create a pumpkin. Make a pumpkin stem with a licorice lace or a pretzel.
5. StoragePreferably, eat the donuts the same day you decorate them.
Room temperature: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Freezer: Undecorated donuts can be stored in a freezer container or bag for up to a month. Thaw at room temperature. If the donuts are decorated, you cannot freeze them.
