NOTES
1. How long should I soak the bread? Soak the bread for at least 1 minute on each side. That gives the center time to absorb the egg mixture.2. Why drain the bread before frying? Draining removes extra egg mixture from the surface. This helps the French toast cook golden instead of turning pale and soft.3. Can I make this for kids or pregnant woman? Yes. But leave out the Cointreau. The orange juice, zest, and cinnamon still give plenty of flavor.4. What can I use instead of Cointreau? Grand Marnier or Licor 43 both work well. You can also leave the liqueur out completely. 5. StorageServe the French toast right away for the best texture. If you need to wait briefly, keep the cooked slices warm in a 210 °F (100 °C) oven. Add the honey and orange zest just before serving.
