A frying pan with non-stick coating is so super easy to use. You need little fat and it is easy to clean. It only becomes annoying if the non-stick coating is damaged.
Cleaning pan with non-stick
coating
You can of course prevent this by not sanding with a scouring pad, but to clean your pan with a warm water and a brush or with salt and oil.
Don't use high
heat
Also you can't heat a pan with a Teflon non-stick coating too hot. Use it over medium heat and make sure the pan does not warm up dry (ie without oil or butter). If the non-stick coating gets too hot, it will be damaged and you can eventually throw it away. This also means that you can't actually use a non-stick pan to brown your meat. You do this on high heat and even then the pan becomes too hot which can damage the non-stick coating.
Particularly the pans with a Teflon non-stick coating suffer from this most, but it is also better not to use the new non-stick coatings at high heat. If you want to use high heat, use a cast iron or stainless steel or iron pan.
Store frying pan with non-stick
coating
But did you know that you can also damage the coating when storing your frying pans. Scouring the underside of the pans against each other causes scratches in the non-stick coating, with the result that it will be damaged and your pan will eventually become unusable.
You can prevent this by cutting a piece of felt the size of the inside of your frying pan. After cleaning you put that piece of felt in the pan and you can put a second pan on top. This way your pans will last much longer.
And it also looks nice right?
PS. And if you are in need of a new pan or want even more information about frying pans, than you can find some great examples in this post.
