Pulled Pork Buns where the meat is stewed in the Slow Cooker is the most flavorful, tender, and best sauce-meat ratio pulled pork you've ever eaten. Season the meat by rubbing it with a spice mixture and then slowly cook the meat in the sauce. A delicious recipe!
Delicious Pulled Pork Buns
Do you also love Pulled Pork sandwiches, with lettuce (with Cowlslaw served with it?). Then you can turn on the BBQ (for a nice backyard BBQ), let this meat cook for a few hours (preferably overnight) on low heat. Preferably in a smoky environment. Watch often to make sure it doesn't burn and it takes much time to get it perfect. And then you have a very nice piece of roast pork.
But I didn't do that. I like easy recipes without a lot of work. So I made this super tasty pulled pork in the slow cooker. First deliciously flavored with a delicious herb rub, and then simmered for hours in the crockpot. And that was it. Bake the buns golden brown and serve the pulled pork on the kaiser rolls. Honestly. You really don't need more for this delicious dish. Try it yourself! (a great recipe to serve a lot of people at one time).
What do you need for BBQ style Pulled Pork?
To prepare Pulled Pork you need the following ingredients (you can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog):
- Boneless Pork Shoulder - This is a nicely threaded piece of meat, which is often made into a roulade. Or pulled pork, like today. You could also substitute it with Pork Butt which has a higher fat content.
- Chicken stock - Make your own chicken stock or make it from a stock cube.
- Smoked Paprika Powder - Provides that smoky flavor that is so recognizable in pulled pork.
- Buns - Pulled Pork is deliciously served on crispy ciabatta bread, brioche buns, kaiser rolls, naan bread, or homemade buns. For me, corn buns are one of the best buns for the meat filling.
How do you make Crockpot Pulled Pork?
A recipe with extensive steps, the right amount of ingredients, and which you can also easily print can be found at the bottom of the blog.
- Bottom Loose - Place some onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. This will loosen the meat from the bottom and allow the flavors to absorb better.
- Rub - Make a dry herb rub in a small bowl and rub it all around the meat. Put that on the onions.
- Sauce - Mix the sauce in a large bowl so that it is well blended.
- Cooked - Pour the sauce over the meat and cook on High for 6 hours.
- Pulling Apart - Carefully remove the meat from the slow cooker and pull it apart with two forks. If you come across real fat pieces, you take them out.
- BBQ Pulled Pork - Mix the pulled pork with the sauce and let it heat up for a while. And serve.
Serve with
- Fast food - Cut open a sandwich and scoop the pulled pork on it for a delicous pulled pork sandwich. Garnish with coleslaw and/or other lettuce and cover with the cap. Serve with fries if desired.
- Pulled Pork Sliders - Slice the buns in half and top the bottom with pulled pork and put the top of the bun back on. Melt ¼ cup of butter and mix with 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon garlic salt, and ½ teaspoon poppy seeds or sesame seeds. Pour the butter mixture over the buns. Cover with aluminum and bake for 15 minutes at 380 °C (190 °C).
- American Style - Make a real mac-and-cheese, some corn muffins, cowl slaw, and serve with some green salad.
