Shawarma wraps are delicious finger food. Fast food at its best!
Sometimes I just want a simple, fast meal. A little fast food. And that is kind of alright isn't it, right!
I could go outside to a restaurant or snack bar. Very tasty, but with my peanut allergy it could get very difficult. So I just make the good stuff myself.
I used beef strips (yes I know it's not really the original lamb recipe, but I just had some beef laying around, but feel free to vary) and a homemade shawarma spice mix.
The wraps I fold into bags that I filled with lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber, and then I add the meat. A dollop of garlic sauce and can be distributed. Serve with a salad or fries!
And as real fast-food: Ready in 15 minutes! So fast I can't get it in the take-out or call-in. That is really fast food.
- The wraps are stiff when you get them out of the package. Put them in a warm frying pan on low heat for 10 seconds. After that, they can be folded easily in the right shape.
- Because you want a crunchy salad, use iceberg lettuce, which remains crispy.
- If you make your own spice blend, you can customize the shawarma to your own taste. But of course, you can use a store-bought spice blend.
