A nice variation on the caipirinha, made with tea and spices. By adding ginger and pepper the drink becomes spicy, cinnamon and by refreshing the lemon and mint.
The last drink from the cocktail party summer drinks week: Matias' tea. The recipe comes from the book: Cooking with Tea, written by Frank van der Zande.
I have seen many variations caipirinha come by, but not anything in this direction. Very original and certainly very tasty. A delicious drink for the summer, but because of the specific herbs you can also drink it in winter.
Tomorrow, the wrap-up of the summer cocktail drinks, in which all the recipes pass in review.
Again today my week... (what does a foodie do in a week) and the start of 30 days without sugar challenge (which can be found in the tab at the top or via this link). Of course, with menus and recipes so that you easily can participate.4Pure: Matias' tea (a spicy sort of caipirinha)
- Crushed ice can be bought at the supermarket, but you can make it easily by grinding ice cubes in the blender;
- This recipe uses rum. In the original caipirinha recipe cachaca is used. So if you want even more the flavor of a caipirinha then you can replace the rum with the cachaca;
- You can make your homemade ginger tea by adding 1 teaspoon black tea with 1 teaspoon ginger and mix. Add this to hot water (90 - 100 degrees Celsius) for 3 to 5 minutes;
- You crush the lemon, pepper, sugar and mint in the glass to release the flavors.
