A Caipirinha drink with tea, ginger, and mint is a delicious variation on your normal Caipirinha. Spicy by the pepper and ginger, flavorful because of the cinnamon, and refreshing by the addition of lemon and mint.
A surprising variation on the Caipirinha recipe because of the delicious spices which makes this a flavorful drink. And surprisingly refreshing. A delicious cocktail you certainly are going to prepare more often.
- Crushed ice can be bought at the supermarket, but you can make it easily by grinding ice cubes in the blender.
- This recipe uses rum. In the original caipirinha recipe, cachaça is used. So if you want even more the flavor of a caipirinha then you can replace the rum with the cachaca.
- You can make your homemade ginger tea by adding 1 teaspoon black tea with 1 teaspoon ginger and mix. Add this to hot water for 3 to 5 minutes.
- You crush the lemon, pepper, sugar, and mint in the glass to release the flavors.

Ingredients
Ginger tea
- 200 ml water
- 1 bag ginger tea (1 teaspoon)
- 1 stick cinnamon

- 50 grams ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons ginger tea (above)
- 3 tablespoons rum
- ½ lemon in parts
- 5 leaves mint
- 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
- 2 black peppercorn

Instructions
Ginger tea
- Warm the water until it's to a boil.
- Turn the heat off and add the ginger tea and cinnamon stick.
- Let it stand for 20 minutes at room temperature.
- Sieve the tea and let it cool in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Caipirinha drink with tea and ginger
- Put the ice cream with lemon, mint, confectioners sugar, peppercorn, and ginger tea into the shaker.
- Add the rum.
- Put the sieve and the lid on the shaker and mix everything for 1 minute.
- Pour the Caipirinha through the sieve into a glass.
- Garnish with ice cubes (optional), lemon slices, and mint.
