You can use cucumber in such a lot of ways. And it doesn't contain a lot of calories. This recipe for cucumber with an oriental dipper has a sweet salty dip and therefor makes a delicious snack. Delicious as a side dish, but also as a healthy snack between meals.
Occasionally I go back to basics. A nice slim snack. A real tasty snack. In the Netherlands by tradition we serve theme cucumber, carrot and cheese cubes at birthday parties. This cucumber with an oriental dipper is a delicious and healthy variety. Also delicious with other vegetables such as celery or radish.
But this recipe is also suitable as a side dish. Served with a rice table or a Oriental meal. That makes this a wonderfully versatile recipe.
you do not want to dip a wet soggy cucumber, you scrape the seeds out of the cucumber with the back of a spoon.
you get lots of guests or you just want to vary the theme, add sliced radishes and celery to the serving platter.
you want to get a nutty flavor from the sesame, bake the seeds for 30 seconds in a dry pan.
Tip: this is a delightful accompaniment to soy sauce chicken with lemon rice and bok choy or char sui.

- 1 cucumber english
- 4 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
Ingredients you need per step are listed below the step in Italic
- Peel the cucumber and cut it in half lengthwise.
- Scrape with a spoon the seeds from the cucumber.
- Cut the cucumber into strips.
- Mix the sauce soy sauce, sesame oil and chili sauce until smooth. Put in a bowl.
- Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan for 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle onto the cucumber.
