A skinny dessert, that's certainly a good description of this recipe for filled and baked apples. By adding the gingerbread spices, they got great flavor.
Today a nice skinny dessert. A filled apple tasteful because of its filling, which only contains a small amount of sweetener (honey), also to make the sauce.

- Brush the orange juice on the outside of the apple. It gives a delicious flavor and makes sure the apple won't brown.
- If you haven't got a lot of time, soak the raisins for 10 minutes in hot water.
- The butter you'll place on the top will melt and caramelizes the outside of the apple.
- The apples are boiled in a small amount of water. The juices of the apple and spices inside will combine with the water and gives a delicious sauce, which you can serve with the filled and baked apples.
- Substitute the butter with plant-based margarine for a vegan and lactose-free dessert.
- Raisins can be substituted with currants, cranberries, or small cubes of dried apricots.
- Serve these filled and baked apples with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A great combination.
Preparation and storage
- The filling can be prepared and stored for 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- After baking these apples can't be stored. Eat them right away.

Ingredients
- 4 apples sour, like Granny Smith
- 6 tablespoons raisins
- 6 tablespoons orange juice fresh
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons gingerbread spices
- 8 walnuts chopped coarse
- 4 teaspoons butter unsalted

Instructions
- Soak the raisins overnight in 4 tablespoons of orange juice.
- The next day: Mix the raisins with the honey, walnuts, and gingerbread spices.
- Preheat the oven to 355 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
- Peel the apple and core them.
- Brush the apples with the remaining orange juice.
- Put them in the baking dish, side to side.
- Fill the apples with the raisin mixture.
- Add a little butter on top.
- Pour water into the baking dish (about ½ inch (1 cm) in height) and put the baking dish in the oven.
- After done get the dish out of the oven and place each apple on a plate.
- Pour the remaining sauce (add a small amount of water or milk if it became too dry) around the apples.
