An irresistibly tasty potato salad with bacon and Cheddar cheese!
I love potato salads because they are so versatile. A creamy potato salad with egg, a salad made with baby potatoes, or a skinny potato salad, whatever you put on the table, the bowls are always empty.
But this is the top of the top potato salad. Deliciously filled with Cheddar cheese, fried crispy bacon, and a creamy sour cream and mayonnaise sauce. Flavored with spices and some scallion, this simple potato salad is the side dish you want to serve at the BBQ or picnic this summer. I've made it before, and I'm curious if you'll put it on the table too!
What do you need for a Loaded Potato Salad with Bacon and Cheese?
To prepare this Cheddar Bacon Potato Salad, you require the following ingredients. You can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog:
- Potatoes: Use floury potatoes to make this recipe. Russet, Doré, King Edward, and Maris Piper are great choices. Cut the potatoes into slices. Or use pre-cooked potato slices.
- Olive oil: Use extra virgin olive oil with a fruity flavor.
- Bacon strips: Crispy is fried in a dry frying pan and drained on kitchen paper. Give a salty taste to the potato salad.
- Cheddar: An English orange-colored cheese that tastes spicy. Grate it before adding it. If you want to replace it, you could use Gruyère.
- Sour cream: Has a creamy texture and a slightly sour, fresh taste. The taste of sour cream is similar to yogurt, but it is somewhat thicker and has a higher fat content. You can also use crème fraîche instead of sour cream.
- Mayonnaise: Makes a rich and creamy potato salad. And you can also make it yourself with this recipe.
- Parsley, dried: Dried parsley has a fresh, slightly bitter taste.
- Spring onion: Scallions or green onions. Gives a fresh taste to the potato salad with bacon, cheese, and a bit of spice.
