What do you need for Ginger and Soy Chicken Wraps?
To prepare this soy chicken wrap, you need the following ingredients. You can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog:
- Chicken breast - Cut chicken cubes are used to keep the meal nice and easy. But of course, you can cut chicken breast or fillets into small cubes. Are you going vegetarian? Replace the chicken with vegetarian chicken pieces.
- Tortilla wraps - Delicious plain wheat tortillas are used for this recipe. But you can also opt for a multigrain wrap tortilla with a slightly nutty taste.
- Kecap Manis - Use or for this recipe. This gives a delicious, sweet taste to the soy chicken. If you only have light soy sauce but still want a sweet taste. Then add two tablespoons of honey to ⅓ cup (80 ml) of soy sauce.
- Garlic and Ginger - Important ingredients in Asian cuisine, give a delicious taste to the chicken.
- Red Pepper - Remove the seeds from the pepper and cut them into small pieces. By removing the seeds, the pepper is less hot. If you like spicy, add the seeds.
- Iceberg lettuce, cucumber, and tomato - Served in small pieces along with the wrap and soy sauce for dinner as a salad.
How to prepare Kecap Manis Chicken Wraps
You can find a printable recipe with a step-by-step description at the bottom of this blog.
- Stir-fry the garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
- Add the pepper and chicken and cook until the chicken is golden brown on all sides.
- Add the kecap and mix. Put a lid on the pan and let it cook for 5 minutes. (A disadvantage of cooking with kecap is that it burns quickly. To prevent this, put a lid on the pan when the chicken is not yet cooked. This way, it gets the delicious soy sauce without burning. Remove the lid at the last minute from the pan and let the sauce (if needed) continue to reduce until it sticks to the chicken.)
- To make the tortilla wraps easy to roll, heat them in a clean, hot skillet for 10 seconds. Then remove them from the frying pan, and you can easily give them the right shape. Next, place a wrap in front of you and divide iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, and cucumber in the middle of the wrap. Place a portion of soy chicken on top. Serve right away.
Serve this dinner with rice, extra salad, and a sweet and sour chili sauce!
