Quick and Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe
Supermarket pizzas? Not my thing. They're often dry, taste too sweet, and the sauce doesn't taste like tomatoes. That's why I make my own pizzas. I use a simple pizza dough recipe, and today, I'm sharing my favorite pizza sauce. I've been making this sauce for years, and when my son's friend said, “This tomato sauce really tastes like tomatoes,” I knew I was on the right track!
What makes this sauce so good? Good ingredients and keeping it simple. Italian cuisine is all about simplicity. Tomatoes, herbs, and a little love – that's all you need. And you can taste it.
What do you require?

- Passata: In the summer, you can make sauce from fresh tomatoes, but in the winter, they are often watery. A good passata is a perfect substitute, full of summery tomato flavor.
- Italian herbs: A mix of oregano, thyme, and basil gives that delicious Italian flavor balance.
- Sugar: Tomatoes can sometimes be sour. A little sugar brings out the sweetness in the tomatoes. If you would rather not use sugar, add half a teaspoon of baking soda to reduce the acidity.
