A warm, fragrant casserole full of spices, sweet apple, and raisins with a creamy egg topping-that's South African Bobotie. It's perfect for cold fall or winter days. It fills your home with the most delicious smell and gives you that cozy, comfort food feeling we all crave when the days get shorter.

Cozy South African Bobotie Recipe
Bobotie originally comes from South Africa, but its roots go back to Indonesia. Through Dutch traders, the recipe found its way to the Cape and grew into a true South African classic. It's even recognized by the United Nations as part of the country's heritage. And once you've tried it, you'll know why. This is a dish that brings joy to the table.
Tips How to Make Bobotie with Apples and Raisins
- Want it sweeter? Try bananas, dates, or extra dried apricots instead of apples.
- Add some crunch with toasted almonds or walnuts.
- Meal prep tip: Make the beef mix in the morning, refrigerate it, and bake it with the egg topping at dinner time.
