To prepare this Easy Garlic Herb Butter, you need the following ingredients. You can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog:
- Butter - Use unsalted butter.
- Garlic - Freshly squeezed garlic has the best taste.
- Parsley - Finely chop the parsley and add for a fresh taste.

How to prepare Garlic Herb Compound Butter
You can find a printable recipe with a step-by-step description at the bottom of this blog.
- Place the butter in a bowl and stir gently with a fork to soften it. Add the garlic to the butter.
- Add three drops of lemon juice, as well as the sea salt.
- Finely chop the parsley and add it to the butter.
- Now stir everything well together. You can serve it right now, but it will be even better if the butter is given an hour to flavor (in the fridge).
Serve herb garlic butter on an appetizer board with homemade focaccia with caramelized red onion and garlic butter (!), katmer pie with spinach ricotta filling, and sweet potato hummus.
Tips, Substitutions, and Variations
- Add three tablespoons of olive oil to make the garlic butter even creamier.
- You can give the garlic butter even more flavor by mixing Parmesan cheese or chili flakes (for some spice) into the butter. Or add other fresh herbs such as finely chopped rosemary, thyme leaves, or basil.
- Is the butter too hard? Put it in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds to soften it (don't melt it).
- Or you can try one of these three tricks:
- Cut the butter into small pieces, then it softens faster.
- Beat the butter flat by placing a plastic film on top of the butter and then smash it with a rolling pin ( this also works super well if you're frustrated or have stress;-) ).
- Fill a glass with hot water, let it stand for 1 minute, empty, dry, and put it over the cold butter. Within a very short time, the butter becomes soft, because of the warmth given by the glass.
- If you don't have fresh herbs at home? Then use dry herbs, a teaspoon of any kind you want to use.
