What do you need for Rose Water Meringues with Strawberries?
To prepare these Rose Meringues, you need the following ingredients. You can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog:
- Egg whites - Used to make meringue. Separate the yolk from the egg white. There should not be a trace of egg yolk in it. Otherwise, you will no longer be able to beat the egg white until stiff.
- Rose Water - Aromatic and floral notes. You only need a little for great taste.
- Sugar - To sweeten the meringues and whipped cream.
- Cream - Use cream, which you can whip.
- Strawberries - Use fresh strawberries. Wash them and remove the crown (in this order. If you first remove the crown, the strawberry will absorb the washing water and become watery)
How to prepare Strawberry Rose Meringues
You can find a printable recipe with a step-by-step description at the bottom of this blog.
- Beat the egg whites in a grease-free bowl until they start to stiffen. Add the sugar little by little while you keep mixing.
- Then pour the rose water into the egg whites. Beat until everything is stiff.
- Cover a baking tray with baking paper and spread heaps of foam with a tablespoon.
- Dry the meringues in a preheated oven at 285 °F (ca. 141 °C) for 60 minutes. Spoon a tablespoon of whipped cream and strawberry cubes on top. Serve immediately.
Garnish - In the summer, you can garnish this with fresh organic rose petals.
Tips, Substitutions, and Variations
- Ensure the bowl and hooks of the mixer are fat-free before beating the egg whites. Wash with hot water and detergent, and dry well before using. Otherwise, the egg whites will not stiffen.
- Use fresh eggs at room temperature. These are best beaten stiff.
- Also nice - Mix a tablespoon of strawberry jam with the cream
- Do you have leftover meringues? Make Eton Mess! Spoon Greek yogurt into a bowl. Top with strawberry sauce (an easy recipe you can find here). Crumble over the meringue. Divide finely sliced strawberries on top. Spoon some strawberry purée over this. Decorate with meringue and serve.
