Made in just 14 minutes, this broccoli and bacon pasta is really that FAST. And it's got a lot of flavors and is really delicious. The bacon juices cover the spaghetti and broccoli and give it a salty taste. The minced beef is nice and brown. A recipe that you make when you've little time left and want to eat something delicious!
A really nice recipe, even for people who don't like broccoli. A recipe that's finished very quickly. There have been so many positive reactions to this recipe. Perhaps it's the combination of the salty bacon, the sweet onion, and the creamy pasta that hits just the right note.
Italian recipes are always a good idea in my family. The kids love it. And I do too because you often need a few ingredients. You only need FIVE ingredients for that recipe! They are quick and easy to make and have a delicious taste. I serve this broccoli and bacon pasta with grated cheese and, if I really feel like it, a tablespoon of pesto.
An easy and SUPER tasty meal on the table within 14 minutes. That is really nice
- Spaghetti - I cook the spaghetti al dente. Because it always cooks a little bit afterward in the pan. The bacon fat will completely coat the spaghetti and makes it even more delicious. You can replace the spaghetti with another pasta, such as penne, macaroni, or fusilli.
- Broccoli - The vitamins in this recipe. Cook the broccoli until it's cooked, but still has a bite. This way you keep most of the vitamins in this recipe. You can cook the broccoli and spaghetti separately, but you can also choose to cook the spaghetti and broccoli in one pan (that saves dishwashing time ;-)). You can substitute broccoli with cauliflower.
- Onion - Bake the onion until translucent, which will give it a sweet taste. And that combines well with the bacon.
- Bacon - The fried bacon is crispy and salty. The bacon fat mixes into the pasta and covers everything with a salty and creamy flavor. This is actually the surprising ingredient in this recipe.
- Ground beef - Fry the ground beef until it's brown and done. And mix that with the onion and bacon, through the spaghetti-broccoli mixture. You can also replace this with minced pork and beef meat mixture - which is fattier, but also has more flavor (but that's not necessarily because you also add the fried bacon).
Step 1 - Wash the broccoli and fry the bacon
- Cut the broccoli into florets. When the florets are big half or quarter them. You want every piece to be almost the same size, so they're done at the same time.
- Add the bacon to a dry frying pan and bake on medium heat for three minutes. They don't have to be brown and crispy yet, because they will fry further with the onions and the minced beef.
Step 2 - Bake the onions and beef, cook the broccoli
- Put the onion with the bacon and stir-fry for three minutes.
- Add the broccoli to a pan with boiling water and cook for seven minutes, so they still got a bite.
- Add the minced beef to the frying pan and bake until brown and done.
- Drain the broccoli and put it back into the pan, so it stays warm.
Step 3 - Cook the spaghetti and mix with the veggies
- Cook the spaghetti in a pan with boiling water, according to the manufacturer's directions until it's al dente. Optional: add some oil and mix well, so it will stick less.
- Add the broccoli to the spaghetti.
Step 4 - Mix the bacon-beef mixture through the spaghetti
- Add the bacon, onion, and minced beef mixture with spaghetti and broccoli.
- Stir everything well, so all the ingredients AND flavors will mix.
