This Orange Caipirinha Cocktail with Apricot is one of the most refreshing drinks with a touch of sweetness!! The sweet apricots, the acidity of the lime, and then the cachaça. With its slightly sharp, woody taste, this completes this cocktail! A delicious drink for any party!
Orange Caipirinha Cocktail
A real Brazilian drink with an Orange touch: the Caipirinha. This drink probably originated in the Brazilian countryside but is now so famous that you can order it all over the world.
By making your own delicious apricot purée and adding the fruit purée to this cocktail, you get a slightly sweeter variant, which is also very tasty. Great for hot summer days, when you can enjoy this delicious cocktail outside on the terrace.
What do you need for a Caipirinha with Apricot Purée
For the preparation of this Orange Caipirinha Cocktail you need the following ingredients (you can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog):
- Cachaça - A real Caipirinha has the liqueur Cachaça. That is a sugar cane based liqueur, with a hint of wood tones. If you don't have that at home, you can also replace it with vodka or rum.
- Apricots - Fresh or dried, both are possible. With the dried variant, you let the apricots soak in water so that they absorb it. With the fresh version, make sure to remove the pit.
- Sugar and water - Needed to make the apricot purée.
- Lime - This citrus fruit adds a fresh note to this cocktail.
- Mint (optional) - Use the mint as a garnish in the glass. A nice color accent for your Apricot Caipirinha.
How do you make this Brazilian Orange Apricot Cocktail
A recipe with extensive steps, the right amount of ingredients, and which you can also easily print can be found at the bottom of the blog.
- Put the apricots in a pan with water and let them soak for at least 1 hour (only when using dried apricots). Add the sugar and bring to a boil. Let it cook for 2 minutes. By boiling the apricots with some sugar you get a sweet apricot purée that is very soft and easy to drink. If you put the apricots without cooking in the blender, you'll get some hard pieces in between.
- Puree the apricots with an immersion blender or in a blender until smooth. Let cool to room temperature and store in the refrigerator until use.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes, lime slices, and Cachaça. Shake the contents for 1 minute. Keep your hand on the cap while shaking. You don't want the contents of the shaker flying around the house.
- Fill the glass with apricot puree, ice cubes and lime wedges. Pour over the cachaça mixture. Pour the Caipirinha through a sieve into the glass. You don't want to dilute it further with ice, just refrigerate it. Garnish with some extra mint leaves and serve immediately.
