Delicious Christmas pizza appetizers for the kids as a kids entrée. This is something they love most. And a great addition to their own Christmas menu.
Instead of the stacks with smoked chicken, I feed my kids Christmas pizzas. Garnished with chives as light strains and ham as balls. Very festive. I make all the pizzas in advance and freeze them. So for Christmas dinner, I only need to slide them into the oven. Easy does it.

Ingredients
Pizza dough
- 350 grams flour
- 2 teaspoons yeast instant
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 230 ml water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Pizza sauce
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 shallot
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 500 grams tomato
- 400 mL passata
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Italian herbs such as basil, thyme, rosemary
- 1 Bay leaf
- ¼ teaspoon salt at taste
- ⅛ teaspoon pepper
Topping
- 2 slices ham deli
- 100 grams cheese Gouda
- 10 grams chives
Instructions
Pizza dough (bread baking machine)
- Put the ingredients for the dough in the bread machine (start with water and olive oil, then the flour and the remaining ingredients) and turn on the machine on the dough, including 1st rise.
Pizza dough (mixer or by hand)
- If you knead the dough by hand or mixer, add the yeast to, in this case, lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon sugar.
- Let stand for 5 minutes, add the other ingredients that are necessary for making the dough, and then mixing everything together.
- Put the dough on your work surface and knead by hand (or mixer) for 10 minutes.
- Grease a bowl with a little oil and place the dough in the bowl.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel.
- Place the bowl in a warm place and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
Tomato sauce
- Peel the tomatoes by making a cross with a sharp knife into the bottom. Dip them in boiling water (about 20 seconds) and cool them immediately into a bowl of cold water. The skin can now be released easily. Remove the seeds and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.
- Chop the onion and the garlic fine.
- In a saucepan heat the tablespoon of olive oil and add the onion and garlic.
- Stir for 3 minutes or until the onion is translucent, then add the chopped tomatoes, passata, and sugar.
- Place the herbs in the sauce and bring to a boil.
- Turn the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 25 minutes until the sauce is done.
- Remove the herbs from the sauce and taste.
- Season at taste with salt and pepper.
Baking the pizza's
- Preheat the oven to 440 °F (225 °C).
- Divide the dough in half and roll both pieces into a square piece.
- Cut with a Christmas Cutter Christmas trees (or other forms) out the dough until the dough is finished.
- Put the Christmas trees on a baking sheet that has been lined with baking paper.
- Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, then spread some tomato sauce on top of the pizza, which you blend with the back of a spoon.
- Put chives over the tomato sauce so it looks like a light chain and then put some small pieces of ham as balls.
- Grate the cheese and sprinkle it over the pizza.
- Bake the pizza's for 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Serve warm.
