This creamy Halloween tomato soup with meatballs is soft, thick, and economical. It's incredibly easy to prepare, has only SIX ingredients, and has so much flavor. Use tomato paste and sieved tomatoes for the flavorful tomato paste. The spiderweb, prepared for Halloween, is made with sour cream (and very simple to draft).
Creamy Halloween Tomato Soup with Meatballs
I love a great bowl of steaming homemade soup, and this tomato soup is one of the best because it's quick, flavorful, and easy to prepare.
To prepare the soup, you only need six ingredients. Probably you've got them all in your pantry. And 20 minutes of your time, 30 when you add meatballs to the soup (which makes this soup even better).

Not only creepy, but delicious!
Therefore, this soup also looks exciting, and it's great fun as a dish for Halloween (or an exciting children's party). My children first looked a little hesitant, but when the youngest (that's the daredevil in the field of food) had approved, they all attacked the soup.
We ate the freaky bread fingers with the soup, which was a tasty combination. And so we got a lovely lunch. But I imagine this is an excellent entrée for your next Halloween buffet or dinner party.
Why choose for this Halloween soup?
- Only six ingredients, with canned tomatoes that are sieved (so you don't have to blend the tomato soup).
- Homemade so that you can adjust this soup to your taste.
- In 10 minutes on the stove and only some simmer time left.
- The spiderweb looks complicated (but isn't), and everybody loves this addition to Halloween.
- Tomato soup with balls is one of the favorite recipes for most people.
- You can eat this soup vegetarian (without the balls).
- The soup can be prepared in advance and must only be warmed (and draw your spiderweb).
What do you need for Halloween Spider Web Tomato Soup?
To prepare this Creamy Halloween Tomato Soup, you need the following ingredients. You can find the correct amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the blog:
- Butter - Melt the butter and mix with the flour. That way, you can make a roux. A roux is made to thicken this soup.
- Flour - The second ingredient for the roux is flour. Bake the roux for 2 minutes; otherwise, you will taste the flour in your soup.
- Stock - Use beef stock or vegetable stock (vegetarian variant). Add the stock cold (room temperature). When your roux is warm (like in this recipe), add cold liquid.
- Sieved tomatoes - Canned tomatoes are delicious because they've got just the right flavor. I used sieved canned tomatoes, so I won't have to blend and sieve this soup.
- Sour cream - Put it in a bottle or piping bag and draw lines in the soup. Use at room temperature.
- Salt and pepper - Flavor the soup with salt and pepper.
- Ground beef - Optional; when you want to make this creamy tomato soup with balls, use ground beef. Make balls by rolling pieces of meat between the palms of your hand. Cook for an extra 15 minutes, so the meatballs are done.
How to prepare Bloody Spider Web Soup
You can find a printable recipe with a step-by-step description at the bottom of this blog.
Step 1: Melt the butter on low heat and add the flour while whisking with a wooden spatula. Let it bake for 2 minutes so that the flour flavor will disappear. Next, add the cooled stock little by little while stirring with a whisk. When all the stock is added, bring the soup to a boil.
Step 2: Bake the tomato paste for 2 minutes in a frying pan until the flavor is sweet instead of sour. Add the tomato paste to the soup. Also, pour the sieved tomatoes into the pan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Flavor with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Take the sour cream from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature. Put in a bottle and add a point to the middle. Draw circles around it.
Step 4: With a satay skewer, draw a line from the inside out through the layers of sour cream. This way, you'll draw the spiderweb.
Other flavors
This recipe is for tomato soup. But you can make this recipe in Halloween style with these soup recipes:
- Pumpkin soup, which is really a Halloween style soup. Like this recipe.
- Also, a great choice is a green soup (because it looks so creepy), like this green arugula spinach soup and a bok choy, spinach, and kale soup.
Tips
- This creamy tomato soup can be great as a vegetarian soup (without meatballs); use a vegetable broth base. If you want to eat it with meatballs, then a beef broth base would be delicious;
- For this soup, you make a roux. When making a roux, one of the most important things you need to consider is having a hot and cold ingredient when diluting so no lumps are caused. Let the butter/flour mixture cool and add hot broth or add cold broth to the hot butter/flour mixture.
- Bake the tomato paste for two minutes. Therefore, the paste becomes sweeter (instead of sour). You can smell it (the purée will smell sweeter).
- If you make a vegetarian creamy tomato soup, you can add sliced sundried tomatoes as a filling.
- Take the sour cream for 15 minutes before decorating from the refrigerator. That way, it becomes more fluid, and you can draw the spider web more easily.
Prepare this in advance
This soup can be made a day before you eat it. Let cool to room temperature, but make sure that when you're cooling, it is not airtightly sealed, and when cooled down to room temperature, you've got to store the soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Warm it just before serving, and add the sour cream when serving the soup.
Store creamy tomato soup for Halloween
- Refrigerator - In the fridge, the soup got a shelf life of 2 days. Make sure you cool down the soup quickly before storing it.
- Freezer - Freeze the soup for a maximum of 3 months.
