With this harsh winter weather, a bowl of warm oatmeal to start the day is a welcome start. Tasty with sweet apple, walnuts and flavored with gingerbread spices and a dash of honey. A good start to Sinterklaas (and every other winter day).
Oh do you like fall and winter as much as I do? No, I don't like the cold mornings (and evenings), but I do love the food we're eating in this season. It just gots so much more flavor as in summer times. At least in my family. In winter I cook with a lot of spices, which I don't use in summer, just because I don't feel like it.
And that's why I never do an oatmeal breakfast in summer. It's to much for that time of year, I just love to eat a lighter food (like a smoothie or a fruitbowl) then.
Well I'm poking for a delicious warm oatmeal plate, especially with this cold weather, so this morning a pan went on the fire to heaten the milk. Meanwhile, an apple was peeled sprinkled with some gingerbread spices (for the Holidays are coming) and I start baking the apples.
All together in a bowl and then I missed some crunch, so I chopped some walnuts and sprinkled them on top. All together 10 minutes of work. And then I went to relax, enjoy my breakfast. Because I certainly did. And what I like so much about oatmeal is that you have a wonderful full feeling all morning. Very tasty indeed, this will be a new favorite.
It's a good taste!
